Responsible HeyCosmo App Usage In Your Social Groups

Since our launch in September at DEMOFall 2008, the creativity and personalization of the HeyCosmo apps by our users has been truly inspirational. Most HeyCosmopolitans have truly grasped the ideas of how Blaster and Concierge can be used as a personal tool to organization, communication and maximize their time. Unfortunately, there has also been some misuse of this powerful tool.

HeyCosmo takes advantage of robo-call style messaging for the purpose of organization and communication. We are not telemarketers, but we enable this versatile technology for our users to send personal messages to family members, friends and people they know and then get an immediate response. This is HeyCosmo in a nutshell!

One strong and effective way to use the HeyCosmo service to send messages and ask for input from large organized group like: a carpool group; your child’s scout troop; a volunteer network; etc. The group contact uses are endless and we will be a strong tool in your arsenal. However, sometimes a receiving member of the group, who was not expecting this type of call, can make an erroneous assumption that this is a telemarketing call—they may not listen to the message. The best practice is to let your group know that you are using HeyCosmo as your group’s communication and organizing tool. At that point they will be expecting the call and you will find the interaction with your request will be a lot stronger.

There have been some instances, very few but worth mentioning, where an individual(s) have used HeyCosmo Blaster, and on a couple occasions HeyCosmo Concierge, as a means to send unwelcome messages—abusive language; racial statements; inappropriate content. This is not the intended purpose of these applications and we ask for these calls to be reported to us (report abuse) immediately. Please don’t forget to include the phone number that received the call, the time and date it was sent, and what was said. We will not tolerate this type of abuse and this use will be flagged for follow-up contact.

Before sending your HeyCosmo Blast or Concierge message, imagine how it will be received. It is important that everyone see how using HeyCosmo can make their lives Awesome!

If you feel you are receiving unwelcome Blasts from a particular individual you may enter your phone number in the Block/Unblock list (available on our homepage). Unfortunately, we are not able to block a person specifically at this time and by blocking your number in this manner you will block all HeyCosmo messages to that number.
